Einen fröhlichen Montag wünsche ich euch und Grüße aus Manila. Der zweite Monat des Jahres 2026 beginnt. Es passiert nicht viel bei uns, das kennt ihr ja bereits. Gutes Wetter, gutes Leben, kühler Pool. Fernab von den Menschen.

Im Moment sind die Mädels aus Frankfurt bei uns – neue Geschichten, gute Laune und öfter mal zum Essen raus gehen. Am Samstag fliegen wir für ein paar Tage nach Hause in die Provinz und besuchen unsere 88jährige Mutter in unserem Familienhaus.

Ansonsten schreitet bei uns die Analogisierung voran – bis auf Taxi und Banken ist das Handy so gut wie abgeschafft. Sehr angenehm, wieder mehr Papier (…was ECHTES) in den Händen zu haben und mit Tinte zu beschreiben. Hier sind diese Dinge wie Tintenfass und gutes Papier und ordentliche Notizbücher allerdings auch spürbar billiger als in Europa. Für 4 kleine Taschen-Notizbücher habe ich inkl. Lieferkosten nur 6,80 € bezahlt, für einen A5 Planner, aufgebaut wie ein Bulletjournal nur 2,50 €. Wenn nur die Post nicht so schlecht erreichbar wäre und nicht so langsam wäre – würde ich euch ja täglich Briefe schreiben… Naja – ich arbeite an einer Lösung. Bis dahin dürft ihr aber gerne jede Menge Briefe oder Postkarten schicken !

Mein FB ist „Stillgelegt“ – bedeutet: letztmalig neu sortiert und wird nicht mehr benutzt. WhatsApp ist jetzt Signal. Also bitte umstellen, wer mit mir texten/chatten möchte. Sonst benutze ich das Macbook eigentlich nur noch für die Fotografie. Die Tagespresse habe ich schon seit Mitte Januar nicht mehr gelesen. Tut gut. Dafür habe ich im Januar über 50 Seiten im Papiertagebuch von Hand geschrieben. Das ist ja sowas von entspannend… ein Träumchen. Und so schick in diesem feinen Ledermäppchen. Zusammen mit der Leica auf dem Tisch und einem blitzenden Füller kann man damit im Cafe total die Show machen. Hahaha…

Für heute… mal wieder schöne Grüße aus der Sonne Asiens. Mit ausgeschalteter Klimaanlage und weit aufgerissenen Türen und Fenstern. Ökologisch wertvoll !

Wishing you a cheerful Monday, and greetings from Manila. The second month of 2026 has begun. Not much is happening here, as you already know. Good weather, a good life, a cool pool. Comfortably far away from people.

At the moment, the girls from Frankfurt are staying with us—new stories, good spirits, and a noticeable increase in how often we go out to eat. On Saturday, we’re flying back to the province for a few days to visit our 88-year-old mother at the family home.

Otherwise, our move toward all things analogue continues. With the exception of taxis and banks, the mobile phone has been almost entirely eliminated. Very pleasant. It’s surprisingly nice to hold more paper (actual, physical paper) in one’s hands and cover it with ink. Conveniently, items such as ink bottles, decent paper, and proper notebooks are also noticeably cheaper here than in Europe. Four small pocket notebooks, including delivery, cost me just €6.80; an A5 planner—laid out like a bullet journal—€2.50.

If only the postal service were easier to reach and not quite so slow, I’d be writing you letters every day. Well. I’m working on a solution. Until then, you’re more than welcome to send plenty of letters or postcards.

My Facebook is “decommissioned”—meaning tidied up one last time and no longer used. WhatsApp has been replaced by Signal. Please adjust accordingly if you wish to text or chat with me. Apart from that, the MacBook is now mostly used for photography. I haven’t read the daily news since mid-January. Highly recommended. Instead, I wrote more than 50 pages by hand in my paper diary in January. Absurdly relaxing. An absolute dream. And it looks so elegant in its fine leather pouch. Paired with a Leica on the table and a gleaming fountain pen, one can make quite a show of it in a café. Entirely accidental, of course. Ha.

For today, then—once again, warm greetings from the Asian sun. Air conditioning switched off, doors and windows wide open. Ecologically commendable.
