Hi, I'm Ulf – born in 1970, raised in Westphalia, trained photographer, and former hotelier. Today, I live with my husband in Manila, Philippines. Multicultural, multi-culinary, and mostly in a pretty good mood.
In 2022, we left Germany – for good reason: racism was getting louder, and resistance to it was unfortunately getting quieter. As a gay, bi-national couple, it was clear to us: it was time to pack up and start a new chapter. And that doesn't feel so bad here in Asia.
In this blog, we write about our everyday life in exile – between sultry tropical heat and cool white wine, banana leaves and Netflix evenings. Sometimes there are little anecdotes, sometimes big thoughts, and in between, there are always photos that I capture with my Leica Q3.
