Welcome to M2M!

A blog about life in Asia—with Leica, love, and latte macchiato.

Hi, I’m Ulf—born in 1970, raised in Westphalia, a trained photographer, and a former hotelier. Today I live with my husband in Manila, Philippines. Multicultural, multi-culinary, and usually in pretty good spirits.

In 2022, we left Germany—for good reason: racism was getting louder, and resistance against it, unfortunately, quieter. As a gay, bi-national couple, it was clear to us: time to pack up and start a new chapter. And that doesn’t feel so bad here in Asia.

In this blog, we write about our everyday life in exile—between sultry tropical heat and cool white wine, banana leaves and Netflix nights. Sometimes there are little anecdotes, sometimes big thoughts, and in between, photos I capture with my Leica Q3.

If you’d like to stroll through the streets of Manila with us, ponder life with us, or simply satisfy a little wanderlust—you’re very welcome!

Make yourself comfortable. There’s plenty of room here for depth, lightheartedness, and a glass of wine.
